In the near future, we will preview any planned improvements to matchmaking in Crucible Labs first, so we can tune that experience collaboratively.

Bungie Considering Adding Matchmaking To Destiny’s Vault Of Glass Raid

The development team working on Destiny has angered plenty of fans of the video game when it announced that it quietly introduced a new matchmaking system for the social shooter to see its effects in action without having to deal with new types of behavior from the community. The studio has acknowledged its mistake and is not willing to offer much more information about the current state of the experience and its future plans, with Lars Bakken, a design lead, explaining that his team is at the moment focused on gathering both data by tracking matches and reactions from the players.

At the moment, the matchmaking tweaks for Destiny have received a second version that is only live for Iron Banner, which means that gamers will have to get into the Player versus Player experience to see their effects. According to Bakken, there are still some issues to work out, and there are plans to continue to offer small modifications before the system feels complete and manages to reduce latency and deliver solid matches to all those involved.

He adds on the official site that “Of course, the end goal has always been to push this out to our other playlists so they can share in the love. More to come on that once we have a solid plan.

That sort of experience is what has driven Bungie’s take on matchmaking – or how little there is – for Destiny 2. Until Destiny 2 comes out, check out what we think the best space games on.

Since Marathon in , and after a decade of success with Halo through , lessons learned at Bungie are broader than difficulty tweaks and game modes pure and simple. The rise of social media changed the giver-receiver relationship irreversibly in all of entertainment, but in particular within gaming for better and famously worse.

A recent update to the way Destiny handles matchmaking has proven to be controversial, prompting Bungie to reverse the changes. Following December’s Destiny update, many players have experienced.

Bungie Details Destiny’s Iron Banner 2.0, New Opt-In Team Chat

Similarly, they have quite a bit of experience with creating huge sprawling, sci-fi worlds. While many games use a centralized server with a player limit to support multiplayer experiences, Bungie is going a different direction with Destiny. Using these mesh networks, players will always have companions to interact with regardless of where they are in the world of Destiny. In an ideal world, players will never encounter an area that feels empty.

And that means playing to the strengths of the consoles.

While the chances of Destiny having matchmaking for Raids is still slim to none, Bungie explains why they went with this design decision in the first place.

By William Usher 1 year ago Destiny’s luster may have waned over time and the fan base may have dispersed into more contemporary titles, but Activision is looking to rekindle the fire with Destiny 2. In fact, they made a major announcement stating that the majority of Bungie has moved over to work on the sequel. The majority of the team at Bungie is actually focused entirely on creating Destiny 2 The last we heard about Destiny 2 was that it was on target for release in If they’re taking a lot of the same core building blocks, and upping the asset quality to match the newer generation systems, maybe the sequel will be what the original Destiny was supposed to be.

The first game had the major problem of being cut down and hacked up in order to run efficiently on the PS3 and Xbox Tiny environments, limited enemy variety, and rinse-and-repeat questing, made the game feel far less epic than what it was originally intended to be. All of the corners that Bungie had to cut with the original game to get it to run on the seventh gen consoles really hurt Destiny’s long-term appeal. However, with the Xbox and PS3 being left in the dust, and both consoles having their final patch rolled out as Bungie focuses on the newer and the better, we’ll finally be able to see what they can do without being fettered by the constraints of the decade-old hardware.

Rise of Iron will be a small taste of what’s to come, given that it’s exclusive to the Xbox One and PS4. We should be able to see something a bit more expansive compared to the other expansion packs released as cross-generational content. Further details about Destiny 2 haven’t been revealed because they likely don’t want to undercut and cannibalize the Rise of Iron DLC due out on September 20th. According to Hirshberg, the pre-orders for the upcoming expansion pack is ahead of where the pre-orders were during the same time last year for The Taken King.

The developers and the publisher will be further promoting and talking up Rise of Iron at this year’s GamesCom later into August, which will be in Cologne, Germany.

Bungie Issues Statement Over Destiny Skill Based Matchmaking

The studio did not give a number for the size of that group, but said it has unbanned the players in question. That could account for the people who were reporting that they were banned for no apparent reason. The initial culprit was thought to be the use of third-party software that interacts with the Destiny 2 game client by inserting code into it, which Bungie explicitly forbids.

The studio explained earlier this year that this draconian policy is intended to maintain the security of the PC version, and to prevent players from hacking or cheating. This restricts some features of apps that handle game capture and livestreaming, such as OBS and XSplit, as well as software that employs screen overlays. As many chagrined players have pointed out, it would be ironic if Nvidia software caused problems, since the company partnered with publisher Activision to promote Destiny 2.

Bungie details aren’t totally clear, no matchmaking in destiny 2 stats, or nickels unconditionally. We’ll have a little funny to me that he had shiny carrots matchmaking for partners with a problem with friends.

Bungie is making changes to Destiny ‘s matchmaking system. The company is reversing the changes it implemented quietly in December. The community has spoken—reducing lag is the important issue. Exit Theatre Mode Since the changes were made, players have been experiencing excessive lag in Player-versus-Player combat—a side effect of Bungie’s tweaking. The goal was to “find the right balance between skill and connectivity,” matching players with those who equally matched in skill, preventing newer and less experienced players from getting annihilated by more competitive teams.

Connection quality was given less consideration, which angered highly-skilled players who were now experiencing increased lag. This will change with Iron Banner. Community manager DeeJ writes , “Lord Saladin’s battle for the Spark will feature new matchmaking settings that will assign more emphasis to connection quality. The hour gap will give Bungie “two sets of data to compare and scrutinize—all part of the plan.

Bungie will also introduce its new event— Crimson Days —on February 9, in celebrating of Valentine’s Day. Nicole is a freelance writer for IGN. You can follow her on Twitter.

Bungie is designing Destiny 2 to be a social hobby, not a second job

The Gjallarhorn, easily the most popular heavy weapon in PVE, is being nerfed in the hope of ending exclusion of players in Raid groups who do not have the powerful rocket launcher. For Ice Breaker, the sniper recharge time is being increased from 5 seconds to 8 seconds for every round. You can view the full list of changes heading to base weapons and exotics right after the latest Fireteam Chat video below.

Anyone that has spent any amount of time with PVP in Bungie knows that the weapons were a mess and needed to be fixed. Yeah, the Ice Breaker, GHorn and Black Hammer nerfs aren’t really needed and in some cases like Black Hammer, actually make no sense , but overall, the changes being made make sense on paper.

They’re fixing auto rifles.

Bungie addresses Destiny 2 dedicated servers concern “Every activity in Destiny 2 is hosted by one of our servers. It was news which dismayed some fans, tired of the problems this brings to Destiny 1. This week, Bungie found time to explain the situation better, saying Destiny 2 actually improves the situation from Destiny 1 by using dedicated servers for some things – and peer-to-peer still in others. That means you will never again suffer a host migration during your Raid attempt or Trials match.

This differs from Destiny 1, where these hosting duties were performed by player consoles and only script and mission logic ran in the data center. Segur linked to this GDC presentation from , where Destiny 1’s blend of network solutions was explained in more granular detail. The server is authoritative over how the game progresses, and each player is authoritative over their own movement and abilities.

This allows us to give players the feeling of immediacy in all their moving and shooting – no matter where they live and no matter whom they choose to play with.

One of the major issues for the community has been with skill based matchmaking which is affecting player experience due to overly competitive matches and lag so the fans wanted it gone for good. According to Bungie, they are committed to do better and will do better for Destiny and its players. Destiny is in a constant state of flux and evolution. The engineers at Bungie who write the code are always exploring ways we can make your gameplay experience better.

Bungie tried to put sugar in that syrup by having story lead Joseph Staten recount a colorful and enticing story of a Destiny play session: “My friend Jason is a Titan, and he’s walking like he’s.

Lets not turn this into a “Well I raid 18 times a week and use LFG all the time so if your experience isn’t similar to mine you clearly never used it” debate. Do you really think every single one of my experiences were great? I’ve had my fair share of bad groups and shitty players. But the vast majority of my time using LFG has been successful. These sites wouldn’t exist or persist if they didn’t work or produce results for most people.

I’m just saying people claiming that LFG and matchmaking are exactly the same are just proving their ignorance and lack of experience in the matter. Maybe listen to the guy who’s done this a bit and has been around the block a few times instead of those who have little to no hands on experience. That’s not elitism, it’s common sense. What if I could guarantee the entire population was on LFG?

Bungie is sort of doing something about Destiny raid LFG

Nov 2, I recently got into a discussion with my friends who play Destiny on PS4. I play on PC. I was complaining how there was no easy way for me to do the Nightfall other than jumping through hoops LFG, Companion app. They disagree and seemed to think that it was a good thing that this was not an option due to how difficult the content can be and the amount of teamwork it requires and also that Bungie’s official stance is basically that they want you to make friends through using these vetting systems.

Bungie no longer is distinguishable in matchmaking for Halo: Reach, as they gave away the Bungie nameplate and blue flame armour effect as part of a gift to the Halo community on Bungie .

Tweet A few years ago, when Bungie rolled out the first public beta for Destiny, nobody really knew that the game was going to look like. Bungie packed the beta with a massive amount of content, including access to one of four open world areas that would be available in the retail release. In fact, on Thursday, Bungie community manager DeeJ took to the Bungie blog to highlight some of the changes that are being made for the upcoming PC beta. The Galaxy Note 8 will be just as powerful as you imagined Some of the most significant changes are coming to the player vs.

Matchmaking times will be shorter, with less emphasis on Skill. This is the fastest route to a game, but you may face opponents outside of your comfort zone. The winning score in Control has been extended from 75 to to allow for more time to play and use your abilities. Matchmaking takes more time to introduce you to players that are closer to you in skill with a good connection. These matchmaking settings may take longer, but we feel that the quality of the gameplay experience will be worth the wait.
